What are wisdom teeth?

Wisdom teeth removal may be the most common extraction. These are the final set of molars most people get when they are in their late teens or early twenties. In most cases, the mouth has insufficient space for wisdom teeth to erupt, which may cause them to become impacted or infected.

Why extract wisdom teeth?

An impacted wisdom tooth is not in the best position for proper chewing and cleaning. Given this improper positioning, the impacted sites may be at a greater risk for bacteria to grow and lead to infection. Also, a wisdom tooth that is impacted or erupts sideways may cause damage or crowding to surrounding teeth and roots.
